About Compassionate BH

Compassionate Behavioral Health, LLC, is the name of the private practice of psychologist Dr. Tyler Halford, PhD. Currently, Tyler is primarily offering adult psychological assessment services, with a specialty in ADHD evaluation. Assessment services may also include most mental health diagnostic clarification areas, to include but not limited to depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, personality diagnoses, IQ, adult Autism Spectrum, and academic achievement testing. The range of assessments and targeted diagnoses and rationale for assessment can be discussed more with Tyler during an initial consultation call.

However, it is worth sharing upfront that Tyler is what is referred to as a “general” clinical/ counseling psychologist, not what is called a “neuropsychologist.” In short: Tyler is not trained to address adult aging related diagnoses (e.g., non age-related memory concerns, brain injury, dementia, Alzheimer’s, etc.) or areas that explore brain function/ dysfunction.

Lastly, Tyler does have limited availability for individual psychotherapy cases, though new therapy clients are currently on a wait-list.

Compassionate BH provides a safe, private space, as well as Telehealth options.

Face to face appointments take place in a secure, private office setting in downtown Helena. Located at 314 N. Last Chance Gulch, 3rd floor suite 317. It’s right next to the Hub Coffee shop in what is called the Lion Building.

Do you live in Montana but not Helena? Telehealth options are available for most services Dr. Halford offers. This can be explored during an initial consultation with Dr. Halford.

About Dr. Tyler Halford, PhD

Tyler isn’t quite a Montana native (hopefully you’re still here), but perhaps close enough(?). He was raised in western Wyoming in a no-stoplight town called Afton. He moved to Helena in 2015 to complete his doctoral internship at the VA at Fort Harrison. His career then started and has remained in the VA setting, with specialization in PTSD and Substance Use care for veterans. Tyler’s early career passions were to serve those who served, so somewhere near his home WY roots that had a VA hospital was essential. Tyler completed his doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology (which is essentially a variation of Clinical Psychology, and either degree can and does perform identical services, with neither being any better than the other) at the University of Louisville.
